SEW WHAT AND SEW THERE
Creative Curve delivered three textile projects with culturally diverse women in Greater Manchester over thirty weeks; bringing communities together to learn sewing and business skills, build confidence, develop friendship networks, share information and support each other.
BAGS OF STORIES
Bags of Stories brought women from diverse backgrounds together on International Women’s Day to share their stories and create bags of inspiration.
A three minute audio-play of asylum seekers/refugee women’s stories, heard via a listening post (an armchair with headphones) at Nexus Art Café. An exhibition accompanied the audio installation, the women who took part represented their dreams in miniature bags, on miniature easels and door keys, to promote a wider community understanding. Nexus Art Café, in Manchester, is an alcohol-free space open at night, providing a valuable space for vulnerable women.
